Fingerstyle Guitar — Week 1 — Day 2

Day 2 — Flesh tone production (across C · Am · A)
Builds on: Day 1 — the arpeggio runs reliably on all three shapes.
Good for: a warm, even nylon tone + your first rest stroke (apoyando), the future tool for making a melody project. Rotating chords tests your tone on different notes, not one memorized shape.
So for example when you are playing the C on S-5 with your p, the p plugs the S-5 and then rests on S-4. Likewise when you plug S-3 with i, it then rests on S-4. And after you plug S-2 with m, it rests on S-3. But as for the first excercise we do only S-1 with i and m.

- Warmup — 2 min
- Establish tone (3 min): C — find your contact point (pad vs fingertip edge) + follow-through (push into and across the string, not straight out)
- Vary (3 min): same tone work on Am, then A — notice how tone reads on fretted vs open notes
- Rest stroke (3 min): S-1, let the finger land on S-2 — first with m alone, then alternate i-m on repeated notes. Feel it project vs free stroke. (i-m alternation is the engine of the Week 2 scale — seed it now.)
- Cooldown (3 min): Em, listen for even, warm tone
