Fingerstyle Guitar — Week 2 — Day 10

Day 10 — Tempo ladder (graduation day)
Builds on: Days 8–9 — both patterns run clean at 60.
Good for: speed earned, not forced — tempo is the graduation axis. Also its underused opposite: one very slow pass, where flaws have nowhere to hide. Week 3’s target is 80 bpm; today climbs partway.
Rule: 3 clean passes to climb a rung; one stumble drops you back one rung. So for example: You start pima on C – Am – A. Set tempo to 60. Do 3 bars 3 times. If no failures (missed notes, too late/early, buzzig, etc.) set tempo to 66 and start over.
- Warmup — 2 min (from the Day 8)
- Slow pass (3 min): p-i-m-a over C – Am – A at 50 bpm — perfect evenness, full tone
- Climb (3 min): same rotation: 60 → 66 → 72 bpm by the rule
- Second pattern (3 min): p-i-m-a-m-i on C – Am: 60 → 66 by the rule
- Cooldown (3 min): back down to 60 — feel how roomy it is now
- Fretboard +5 min — E (day 3/3, graduate if all 6 strings at 60 bpm, 3 times, no hunting!). If this was easy for you, you can try go up and back down (repeat the high E on S-1 and then again repeat low E on S-6).
Log your highest clean tempo to your own notes!
